Now that you have finally made up your mind to put on your exercise gear and get on that weight loss plan, remember, not all succeed at this. You need the right mind and the right way to go about it if you want to achieve your goals.
Here are a few guidelines that will help you in this journey of yours.
Know your start point
It is always good to know where you started. The initial days will be all good and happy with you all excited. However, when the initial excitement dies down, it is time for frustration to set in. if you do not know where you had started you will not know how far you have come. This will tend to frustrate you to the point of quitting. Knowing your start point will help you get through the difficult times.
When you are setting your goal, then be real and specific. Do not make vague goals like I would like to lose one or two pounds this week. Rather make a goal such as I will lose two pounds every week. And make sure to write it down so that you remember.
Get on the RIGHT weight loss program
The reason to do this is that a weight loss "plan of action" will help you by guiding you step-by-step on how to go about it. This will also keep you accountable and hence motivated to keep going.
The most common reason for people to let things out of hand is procrastination. You keep putting off to start exercising or getting on a weight loss program and before you know it, you are swamped with obesity and all the other illnesses that come with it. Therefore, the best thing to do is to start today.
Be ready for the "Emotional roller coaster"
You will experience success at some point and failure at others. Success will send you soaring on the skies while failure might leave you in the dumps. Do not let this happen to you. Instead of getting too excited of your triumphs, stay real and know that you have not yet achieved your goal and if you do fail at some time then remember that the world does not end here. Being ready for this happen is the best way to fight it.
Do not give up
You might be tempted to give up several times. However, simply remember that if you give up now, all that you have done prior to this will simply go down the drain. Do not be satisfied with small successes. Keep going until you have achieved your weight loss goal. And when you do reach your goal, do not allow yourself to put on excess weight anymore.
